COUNTDOWN BEGINS TO MALVERN AUTUMN SHOW

OVER 65,000 PEOPLE ARE EXPECTED TO DESCEND ON THE THREE COUNTIES SHOWGROUND THIS WEEKEND AS MALVERN AUTUMN SHOW RETURNS IN ASSOCIATION WITH WESTONS CIDER VISITORS CENTRE.

The glorious celebration of the season will see TV chef Tom Kerridge and dancing star Anton Du Beke top the bill. Show highlights also include a feast of artisan food and family entertainment, ginormous giant veg, a flourishing RHS Flower Show and much more.

Ken Nottage, CEO of Three Counties, said: “The countdown is on as Malvern Autumn Show is fast approaching. There are just days to go before we throw open the gates and share the bountiful show we have been planning. This year’s event will be a spectacular celebration of the season with a fantastic array of fun for foodies and all the family. We see Tom in the kitchen, Anton on the dance floor and Carol Klein take to the stage in our newly introduced Autumn Theatre. This year will be the ultimate harvest festival and we cannot wait to welcome the great many visitors joining us this weekend.”

HIGHLIGHTS NOT TO BE MISSED INCLUDE:

Taking to the stage on Saturday of the show, Tom Kerridge will join Cookery Theatre host Mark Diacono to demonstrate recipes from his best selling cookbooks. Tom’s dishes will be given a local twist as he incorporates ingredients from the variety of producers showcasing their wares at the show.

Twinkle toes, Anton Du Beke will take to the dancefloor in Malvern Autumn Show’s Vintage Village on Sunday. Eager movers and shakers will be donning their dancing shoes to join the dancing TV mentor as he shows off how to become the ultimate dance flirt of the 40’s and 50’s.

The UK National Giant Vegetables Championship, sponsored by CANNA, returns bigger and better than ever before. This area of the show launches two new categories for 2016 – heaviest bell pepper and heaviest red cabbage – and sees the return of three reigning world record holders – Joe Atherton, David Thomas and Paul Rochester – who each took home top titles at last year’s Malvern Autumn Show. The 2016 championship sees over 55 entrants showcase over 260 oversized vegetables.

The last RHS flower show of the season will be in full bloom with displays from over 50 top exhibits competing in the RHS Flower Show. Here visitors can also purchase the finest quality plants from these award-winning nurseries. Each year, the show proves a one-stop destination for gardeners in search of advice for preparing and restocking their gardens for the winter months.

A vibrant line-up of family friendly fun on the farm will be on offer including a newly introduced dedicated ‘Family Fun Area’ overflowing with activities for kids including garden fames, circus skills and ‘make-and-take’ craft. Furry and feathered friends will come to the show’s World of Animals, sponsored by Bredon School, with an array of creatures great and small.

Televisions gardening guru Carol Klein will share her expert horticultural knowledge and guidance with talks and sessions in the Autumn Theatre. The theatre will feature a dramatic dahlia display, working with over 30 varieties of dahlia, designed by horticulturalist and RHS Council Member Jon Wheatley.

Floral designer Jonathan Moseley will host the Flower Talk Theatre welcoming demonstrations and workshops throughout the day from a flourish of British cut flower growers and floral artists.
